One of the magazines I like to read is

They happened to have an “article”/Quiz on handwriting analysis in the August issue.  So me, being the inquisitive sort and wondering just what they might think a short sample of my handwriting would say about me without an expert around to analyze it, I took the quiz.  It’s got me thinking and I looked up a bit more on the net (I really love search engines).  

As I expected there are differing opinions on what certain aspects of your handwriting might mean about your personality (doesn’t everyone have an opinion?).  But there are enough similarities to make it entertaining.  So what DOES mine say about ME?  

I slant to the right.  So apparently that means my heart rules my head.  But since it’s not TOO much I’m balanced (there are people who would argue with that statement!)

The pressure that I applied is “normal”.  Not too heavy (I didn’t carve it into the page), not too light (you can feel it on the other side of the paper).  Again there are those who would argue with the word “normal” associated anywhere near me.  Most of them know me much better than the editors of the magazine or the person on the internet so hmmm.  But this seems to say I have enough energy to get through the day (HUH?!).  That I know how to speak up and show restraint.

My letters are all cursive and super connected.  This means I hold on tight emotionally.  This might seem contradictory for someone whose heart rules her head… but for me it actually makes sense.  Espcially as I’ve gotten older.

My letters are average size.  This indicates that I can concentrate on some detail but can be distracted.  Just like most of the population.  So much for my theory that I have ADD. 

My writing has an even slant on the page.  This indicates that I am tense and over disciplined. Huh – what?  Wait?  How can I be over disciplined and easily distracted?  Oh, but it also means I have an even balance between optimism and pessimism.  Okaaayy… again.. me?  Balanced? Yeah, they haven’t talked with me.

The spacing between my words and letters is average.  So I’m ok in a crowd and self-confident and at ease.  Yeah – um, NO.  Bzzzt. Wrong.  I can’t stand crowds.  I can survive social situations in spite of feeling uncomfortable.  I enjoy talking with people – but I’m not comfortable in a crowd.   If I seem this way it’s because I do a lot of talking to myself in my head before stuff like this.  Oh and don’t talk to me about shopping in a crowd.

Some of my m’s, n’s and r’s are pointed, some are rounded.  If they are pointed it supposed to indicate above average intelligence.  If they are rounded it means you tend be a slow methodical thinker and are creative.  So I’m going to come up with a slow methodical creative thinker of above average intelligence.  I LIKE it. 

My o’s and a’s are closed.  I maintain privacy.  I may talk a lot, but I don’t reveal much.  Another “Hmmm.” moment.  (This one could be rather telling.)

My Signature is different than my handwriting.  “You may not show who you really are to people.”  And again, hmmm….  Or it could be because I’ve signed so many darned times on those electronic checkout things that my signature is no longer legible unless I concentrate. 

I don’t put much stock in things that try to pin anyone down saying that they’ll react a certain way given any specific circumstance based upon things like this.  The human psyche is just to weird for that.  Sometimes I take a perverse pleasure in NOT behaving as expected. 

But, it has me thinking.   (And no, that isn’t smoke your smelling!)

PS – It would seem this guy at Straight Dope thinks it hooey, too. Shoot. Does that mean I’m not a slow methodical creative thinker of above average intelligence? Dang.
